My first trip to the New York Comedy Club was one that I would rather forget. I had to wait around forever, I half-assed my performance and I subjected my girlfriend to a barrage of sleazy come-ons from a man that was “just kidding!” I didn’t exactly look forward to going back but this is the path I have chosen, and they had a spot for me at last night’s bringer.
I had an easy-to-make quota of three people and found out when I arrived that the club would give me $2 a head. When my count of my friends didn’t agree with his count (mine was the low one!), we decided to split the difference and I was credited with 14 people. And that $28 is the first cash that I have made at comedy. Had I not already spent it, I would frame it.
I have to prepare for tonight’s show at Gotham so I’ll recap both performances tomorrow.
And the answer is “No.”
Does This Make Me a Professional?
