Would you like a wake-up call, or should I set an alarm?

It isn’t time to wake Ugarte just yet, but Boston has won Game 2.

The Ashely Judd picture in the upper right hand corner is kind of tacky...tell me it was Ugarte.

It was not. Frankly, I’m not even that big a fan.

Also, St. Louis hasn’t lost a game at home in the playoffs, so I’m not worried. Yet.

Good luck at first base, David Ortiz!

Why are you rooting for St. Louis?

Posted by Signor Ferrari  on  10/25  at  11:34 AM

Because I’m an asshole?

I can’t stand the deep-pockets in Boston crying poverty. I root for a team with a smaller payroll than the Boston bullpen, so New England can spare me the whining. (I’ve always secretly rooted for the Moneyball A’s against the Yankees.)

I don’t believe in the curse, and wish the lazy sports"writing" would stop, but I want Boston to keep on losing.

Well, I agree with the first part.

Isn’t the Boston GM team operating a version of moneyball?

Posted by Signor Ferrari  on  10/25  at  11:55 AM

Yes, but with a HUGE payroll. Theo Epstein is doing a great job (I expect the Yankees and Red Sox to duke it out for the next 10 years), but it isn’t the same thing.

Toronto is also improving using the Moneyball method, but without the budget they are essentially drawing dead in the AL East.

Baseball is stupid.  Not as stupid as Premiership football, but stupid.  The non-level playing field is one of the things that has caused me to lose almost all interest in the sport.
