Ugarte's Poker Grovel #20, or Purple Haze

Last Tuesday brought another game at Ferrari’s with a familiar cast. Pauly already wrote the game up at Tao but strangely focused on his own hands, so I guess it’s up to me to write about my own.

I also have some poker blog shoutouts.

Nice, very nice…

Although I’d never want to see it, I would actually give you a decent shot against Ferrari—kind of like Pitt against Oklahoma St.  It wouldn’t be pretty, but it might go the distance.  Of course, I’m confident that Pauly could take everyone. It’s got to be something in the water at Regis.

Thanks Coach, but I’m a total spaz with the cardiovascular fitness of a 92-year-old chainsmoker. I might be able to bullrush him for an early takedown, but I’d be wheezing inside of 15 seconds and then the beating would commence in earnest.

Thanks Coach… for your praise in my brawling abilities. It’s the writer in me… I’ve been in my fair share of all our barfights. I’ve also taken a beating once or twice before, so I can fight and play hurt, lol.

And Ugarte… I wrote a weak write up for sure… it was a quicke. I was lazy last week and I took really bad notes. I wasn’t paying attention to hands I wasn’t in and I was distracted all night with some other stuff. Excuses, I know.  So you can tell from my writeup I was just focused on what I was doing this week.

That’s odd, Ugarte seems to have blocked from his memory the hand where I bluffed him out of a flop made pair of Kings with naught but the Hammer, and then showed it to him.  Perhaps, if Senor Ugarte, and the other “gentlemen” at the table, had had the cojones to call my bluffs to the river and then bet or raise into me like the senorita, I would not have so silently ended the night up $185.

Happy 20th, Ugarte!  And Signor Ferrari, unless your play is much worse than we all think, if we all displayed the “cojones” you challenge us to, you would have been up a lot more.

Re: The Hammer. I didn’t remember it until your comment and I submit a demurrer with special reference to my fugue state.
