The Healing Power of Laughter

After the tepid response my material got at the open mic on Monday I was worried.  Worried even though everything gets a tepid response at an open mic.  Even a good open mic like the Underground Lounge isn’t a place to get serious belly laughs.  Too much of the crowd is busy running their own material through their head and thinking about ways that they can improve your material.  Because every comic watches others and thinks “man, I could make that so much better.” Most comics are wrong, of course, but it is that drive that encourages people that couldn’t get laughs out of a child with fart sounds to keep plugging away.

Of course, a good night will keep you coming back also.  This was one of those nights.
