Just Wondering
So, did you watch the convention yesterday? I didn’t think so; I was flipping back and forth from WSOP coverage, myself. Did you at least see the clip on the news when Teresa Heinz Kerry said:
Today, the better angels of our nature are just waiting to be summoned. We only require a leader who is willing to call on them, a leader willing to draw again the mystic chords of our national memory and remind us of all that we, as a people, everyday leaders, can do; of all that we as a nation stand for and of all the immense possibility that still lies ahead.
I think I’ve found that guy.
Am I the only person who finished the sentence “... but he died in a plane crash, so John Kerry will have to do.”?
Actually thought her interview in Time was funnier (and less morbid). Here is a bit of her response to a question about her ability to relate to “average Americans.”
Heinz Kerry: Did I ever do without things? Yes, I definitely did. It’s all relative, of course, but when I was in Switzerland in college, my budget was $250 a month for everything, and I managed fine.
TIME: What did you have to do without?
Heinz Kerry: For instance, one day a week I would not eat protein because I needed to buy a flower in the middle of winter. I would have to buy a rose or something that would take me to the outdoors.
Not exactly “I feel your pain.”
