Our fine, noble, god-fearing Justice Department has been allowed to redact certain portions of the ACLU’s submissions in the ongoing litigationn over the USA PATRIOT Act. One of the things those nice boys at Justice decided was inappropriate for the public to read was a direct quote from a published Supreme Court decision:
"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect ‘domestic security.’ Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent."I wonder why they wanted that redacted?
