I’ve read some of the studies, so I know that adding a stadium or a major league team does not provide an economic lift to the neighborhood. I know that my taxes as a New York City resident are already pretty damn high. And I am a Laker fan.
But I am still so damn excited that the Nets might be moving to Brooklyn. In my neighborhood! In a Gehry-designed arena!
I hope the deal tanks and the Nets stay in Jersey. The Brooklyn Nets is wrong on many levels (not the least of which is that moving them to “technically speaking” the city (but not really as we all know) makes them a hell of a lot farther from my W.30’s, 15 minute bus ride from Port Authority, apartment. But, I guess I can take comfort in MSG being a block-and-a-half away.
Tough talk for a weezer from Toledo who, I’m guessing, has never made it out to the Meadowlands for a game.
Oh, and Happy Birthday.
