Because then the mailmen would get the day off—and you’re allowed to mail absentee ballots til election day, and the ones that have been mailed must be delivered. That’s my thought, anyway.

I was thinking about this a lot. I think it comes down to national holidays always losing their meaning. Memorial Day? We don’t memorialize. We party.

Personally, I think that voter turnout would go down if Election Day became a national holiday.

The only excuse to not vote is a person being too lazy to either order an absentee ballot and too lazy to go to the polls.
