As Karol gloats and words like “mandate” are bandied about, and people talk of Red and Blue states and increasing polarity and blah blah blah, it is worth remembering that New York is much closer to Texas than people think.
Hat tip to Encyclopedia Hanasiana.
With a few exceptions, for example on the “war on terror”: (1) New York was a target of 9/11 and remains a much more likely target for terrorists than Texas; (2) A majority of New Yorkers voted for someone other than Bush.
Can’t argue with that one. Travis County, the Rio Grande valley and parts of West Texas went predominantly Democrat. As I mentioned on that other blog, the Democrats did well in local elections, garnering a few more seats in the state legislature.
And while we may not be high on the list of targets, that fellow who was caught in North Carolina with footage of buildings had plenty from Downtown Dallas.
