A comedy. About suicide.My friend Brian Finkelstein, host of the excellent Thursday night R Bar shows that I can’t seem to convince you people to come to, has a new one man show. I went to see the debut of the true story of Brian’s long night as a volunteer on a New York City suicide hotline. The writing is sharp and Brian - a regular performer at The Moth - is an engaging speaker. I’m not the ony one who thinks so: Time Out New York named it a pick of the week. The show manages to be painful and very funny at the same time and I highly recommend it.
First Day Off in a Long Time is playing on Thursday nights at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater at 8PM. For $5 you get to see Brian’s show and Growing Up Amy. Amy’s show is uneven but it definitely has some good moments.
