Since one of our contestants last week apparently was offended by the “tactlessness” of certain judges (yours truly undoubtedly among them—perhaps all of them), I offer this disclaimer: IT IS ONLY A GAME. DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY. That having been said, I will now proceed to take off the gloves. This week, I must judge one random post from each blog. I have chosen the third from the top at the time that I visit each site. Here are my disgruntled musings:
Next entry: Battle of Algiers HELD OVER
Previous entry: And, once we convert them, the Iraqis will be cured of their melancholy humors
Oh well, what can I say? Picking Rings is about as difficult as picking Kerry to win NH (which you did) and I’d have to say your third post down didn’t do much for me either (talk about insular: perhaps one should indicate why, in the name of all that is good and lovely in this world, we should care about Helmut?). That said, on purely random selection I’d have to say you probably ranked ‘em rather fairly.
1) My site is hosted by the state of California which means I am at their mercy.
2) They posted the wrong link.
3) Take a deep breath, and let’s hug.
You aren’t supposed to care about Helmut! You are supposed to care about me! Me, damnit!!!
And I guess how much you care is dependent on how much you care about poker blogging.
What a whore.
I care.
They’ve suspended the contest because of you! bad, bad man.
Well, I have to admit a complete lack of interest in poker blogging. Which does highlight at least one problem of trying to blog for what interests potential readers: not everything one blogs is going to be something every visitor is interested in. So I think we should blog about what interests US, and try to make it interesting for as many people as possible.
I couldn’t agree more. Indeed, many of us (there are four) who blog at Rick’s have little interest in some of what the others here blog about from time to time. However (and I say this because I assume your comment was at least a backhanded reference to my review) there is an important distinction between one’s philosophy of blogging and what one (admittedly obnoxious) judge says when he is reviewing a single random post. You will note, for example, that one of the Judges gave a certain post a low score, yet added the blog that post came from to his blogroll.
