What is particularly interesting—and sickening—to me is that Bush is continuing the pratice (noted in an earlier post) of deflecting attacks on his handling of the war by simultaneously blaming the troops and calling Kerry a troop-hater.
Richard Holbrooke said “the U.N. inspectors had told the American military this was a major depot. I don’t know what happened. I do know one thing—in most administrations the buck stops in the Oval Office.”
The President’s response: “Now the senator is making wild charges about missing explosives when his top foreign policy adviser admits, quote, ‘we do not know the facts. Think about that—the senator’s denigrating the action of our troops and commanders in the field without knowing the facts. Unfortunately, that’s part of a pattern of saying almost anything to get elected.”
How twisted and cynical is that? Holbrooke says that the President is to blame, and the President says Kerry is “denigrating” the troops and commanders in the field. Not only is this clearly NOT what Kerry and his surrogates are doing, it’s what Bush and his surrogates are doing.
He sent our troops into an unnecessary war without the planning, resources, support or manpower necessary to be effective. Now that his homicidal folly is playing out in the daily press for the world to see, HE’S BLAMING THE TROOPS.
And his lackeys, who have been so gleefully saying that those who oppose the war “hate the troops”, willingly follow.
Sure, they do it in the same backhanded way the President does ("How DARE you suggest our troops fucked up!”—er, we didn’t), and that cowardly sneakiness makes it all the more disgusting.
How do they sleep at night? Trying to shift blame from the President and his advisors to the SAME GODDAMN TROOPS WHO ARE DYING EVERY DAY from explosive devices made with the very same RDX and HMX that were only a “medium” priority. Well, the Bushes always have been very good at arming our enemies.
You know, I’ve always thought “oil for blood” was a cop-out slogan, but oil sure as hell seemed to be a high priority from the get-go, didn’t it?
Sorry for the ramble, but this just PISSES ME OFF. I mean, makes me “gleeful”. Boy I just fuckin’ LOVE being right. Fuck you, Karol.
