Blog King -- Lots More Mediocrity

Hey, boys and girls!  It’s time for another installment of Blog King, or, as I like to call it, Race to the Middle.  This week we’ll be judging two posts from each Pretender.  Each Pretender has chosen a post from their blog to be judged this week, as well as provided an answer to the Challenge Question.  This week’s Challenge Question is:

Pretend you’re Barbara Walters or the news person of your choice. You’re planning an upcoming special interview that millions of people are expected to watch. You can interview anyone you want. Who do you choose, what one question do you want answered, and why?

I can’t wait!  Let’s see what sort of crap this week’s group of semi-retarded monkeys has thrown at the judges . . .

 Blog King Survivors

As you can see from the neat little java applet on the left-hand side, the Blog King (Christ Web) retains his crown going into Round 2, and the two surviving pretenders are Walloworld and Where the Hell Was I.  Round 2 rulings will be forthcoming shortly.

 Blog King - Group Hug

It was a bit touchy-and-go for a while there, but I’ve aged and mellowed since, and had a good hug with Dan K. O’Leary, so without further ado, let’s rate this week’s Challenges.  The question was:  “Why do you deserve the King (or Queen) of the Blogs title, and why don’t your adversaries?”

Blog King - Your Random Posts Suck

Since one of our contestants last week apparently was offended by the “tactlessness” of certain judges (yours truly undoubtedly among them—perhaps all of them), I offer this disclaimer:  IT IS ONLY A GAME.  DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY.  That having been said, I will now proceed to take off the gloves.  This week, I must judge one random post from each blog.  I have chosen the third from the top at the time that I visit each site.  Here are my disgruntled musings:

 Apparently, I'm Still A Judge!

I’m hitting the ground stumbling here, so I may screw this up, but here are my rulings on what I think are this week’s blogs:

 Blog King, I hardly knew ye . . .

Well, it serves me right for disappearing.  I have been replaced as a permanent judge in the Blog King tournament, by none other than Clarified.  It was unfair of me to disappear without notice for so long, and I was a delinquent judge even when I was around, so the tourney is certainly better off with Dawn.  It’s a great tourney, and you should all check it out.

Tell them Rick sent you.  Sniff.

 Whoops!

Silly me, I forgot to pick a random post from the KING OF BLOGS himself, eTALKINGHEAD!  The last post on his site today was “Iraqis march against terrorism".  Like most of eTALKINGHEAD’s posts, this entry is short and consists primarily of a link to and quote from a news source (in this case, a broken* link to somewhere at MSNBC).  Points for promoting a story that got disappointingly little coverage in the mainstream press, and for unintentionally suggesting that people were wasting their time attempting to get George Bush to “do the right thing”.  Otherwise, a fairly unexceptional post.  6.

*No points were deducted for the broken link, which I assume to be a result of MSNBC clearing out space on their server.

Blog King -- Random Post Rankings

This week, our task as judges was to pick a random post from each blog and give it a 1-10 ranking.  I chose the last (substantive) post on each blog’s front page (note to future pretenders—it won’t be the last post next time around).  Here’s what I found:
